This course is 12 weeks in length. We will cover three unit topics: Digital Citizenship, Internet Literacy, and Microsoft Excel. Students will be evaluated on various assignments and two unit tests throughout the course that measure students' learning of the standards and objectives listed for each unit.
Computer Applications consists of a 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade course. Students will have the opportunity to enhance their technology skills each year at AMS!
The 6th Grade Computer Applications class is a 9 week mandatory rotation for all 6th graders. The class will cover communication skills via email, productivity and organization skills in order to save and manage files, along with software skills using Microsoft Word.
The 7th Grade Computer Applications class is a 12 week mandatory rotation for all 7th graders. The class will cover digital citizenship involving online social media, Internet literacy in order to research properly and avoid plagiarism, along with software skills using Microsoft Excel.
The 8th Grade Computer Applications class is an 18 week elective course. If students sign up for this class, they will become entreprenuers during the first grading period by running their own fictitous restaurant business. Students will end the semester with a unit on Computer Science. Students will be introduced to computer coding using the Google CS First course.
